Discover Albania: A Land of Ancient History and Cultural Harmony

Albania, one of the oldest inhabited regions in Europe, has a rich history dating back to the Middle Paleolithic era. From the ancient Illyrians, whose name inspired "Albania," to Roman and Byzantine rule, the country has been a crossroads of civilizations. Its strategic location made it a vital part of the Roman "Via Egnatia" and home to prominent leaders like Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, who led Albania’s resistance against the Ottoman Empire.

After centuries of Ottoman rule, Albania declared its independence on November 28, 1912. Overcoming isolation during the communist regime, Albania has since embraced democracy, joining NATO in 2009 and earning EU candidate status in 2014.

Known for its religious harmony, Albania is home to Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Bektashi, coexisting peacefully for centuries. The country offers visitors stunning landscapes, archaeological treasures, and unique religious pilgrimage sites, such as Shna Nues Church and Mount Tomorr.
